Our Crafts

Alabaster Craft

In our journey to revive Sustainable Egyptian Crafts, Makra sources its Alabaster from quarries nestled in the heart of Upper Egypt’s mountains. This ensures the exceptional quality and durability of our final products.

Our Alabaster workshop resides in the Alabaster cluster of west Luxor. There, our artisans inherit their craft and passion from Egypt’s ancient civilization.

We follow a meticulous process beginning by cutting the selected stones. Shaping to size and intricate designs follow. Finally the restoration of the newly produced items before being finalized by the golden hands of the master artisans.

Recycled Glass Blowing

The making of the glass is hand-made, and each glass piece might take hours to finish. Although the products are authentic in design, they are still functional and handy. Such glass is also used in many churches and mosques.

What also adds to its beauty is that no piece is like the other, so every item is unique in all its structures.

Sustainable Egyptian Crafts by Makra support this special craft from extinction.
